What is this Indicator?
This indicator shows the percentage of the adult population that is disabled due to a physical, mental or emotional condition that currently has health insurance. |
| Why this is important: Access to affordable, quality, and accessible health care promotes the well-being and active participation of people with disabilities in their communities and in the workforce. Additionally, individuals with certain disabilities may require frequent medical care. Insurance coverage options for disabled individuals include Medicare, Medicaid, Employer-Based Health Insurance, and Private Health Insurance. The Healthy People 2020 national health target is to increase the proportion of people with health insurance to 100%. |
| Technical Note: The distribution is based on data from 44 California counties and county groups. |
