Covid Response Network Mask Awareness Project

COVID Response Network, Mendocino Coast
CRN is a cross-sector collaborative working to create a broad, deep, and effective response to the threats of COVID-19. Our pilot region is the Mendocino Coast of California. Our goals are to halt the spread of COVID-19 on the Mendocino Coast, build a network of communication between existing efforts, and create a resilience plan for the region. We envisions a diverse, resilient community on the Coast that is able to keep the number of COVID-19 cases down throughout the Fall and Winter to limit the number of wounded and dead, while working within the  limited hospital resources available (~2 ventilators, 12 ICU beds, for 20,000 people). After the COVID-19 threat is defeated, we plan to transition to a new “CRN” – the Community Resilience Network -to address other threatening situations as they may occur in coming years.

The Project
CRN conducted a county-wide survey  on the attitudes and behaviors around COVID-19 in order to find the most effective messaging.  The group received 278 responses to the survey. The results of the survey will be distilled into an analysis and shared with partner organizations and the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors and into press releases that will be shared with the community at large. As of early December,  board and volunteers  have distributed 14 boxes of cloth masks and educational materials and have held 2 mask distribution events. Additionally, the CRN Board has created an easy-to-use compendium of Coast resources indexed according to need and  is working on a list of links for information about COVID to combat misinformation.  The group is partnering with KZYX&Z on a roundtable discussion.
