The Sherwood Valley Band of Pomo is a unified body of Native American Pomo people who are referred to as a Tribe. Our Tribal office is located near Willits, CA in Mendocino County. Our scope of services includes providing the USDA food program, continued preservation of cultural traditions and ancestral lands, providing environmental stewardship, onsite learning and tutoring, Indian Child Welfare advocacy, health education & support to children and families as well as health and human services groups, workshops and events.

The Project
Tough and Tie Dye

This project engages the Sherwood Valley Tribal Community in a creative activity to promote mask use and family fun! Each tribal family will be invited to tie-dye masks to protect them during the COVID-19 pandemic with their family members, within their family pod.

They are doing door to door, mail and website outreach to Sherwood Valley Tribal Community-Native American households residing on the Sherwood Valley lands, consisting of elders down to youth. The Native American population has a higher rate of underlying conditions, such as diabetes and heart & lung diseases, and are a vulnerable population to COVID-19. This project is being completed on Sherwood Valley lands with proper social distancing precautions, in household groups.
