Ukiah Vecinos en Acción (UVA) is a grassroots organization. This group focuses on taking action on issues that affect the Latino populations, which is a bridge between agencies and the community with the focus of: enriching and making a positive presence for Latinos, serving as a neutral information platform to build an environment of trust and positive relationships with other public service organizations.

The Project
UVA has distributed 19 boxes of masks in Ukiah, Fort Bragg, Point Arena, and Willits using  a group of "mask ambassadors" who are key members of the Latino/a community that understand the network of their community to disperse masks and information to the most people possible. UVA is also collaborating with the Mask Awareness Project to create educational materials.

They submitted a new proposal to adapt their project to survey businesses and community members about what it would take to change behavior around wearing a mask and socially distancing. UVA will be creating a video educating the public on the state tier system and what it will take to get out of the purple tier. The videos will also highlight what  businesses and people need right now to survive/thrive. They will be sharing these recommendations with all community partners doing outreach.
