Action Network Mask Awareness Project

Action Network, South Coast
Action Network Family Resource Centers are based in Gualala and Point Arena and for the last 12 years we have served as a community based Health-and-Wellness collaborative providing culturally sensitive health and social services to underserved populations on the Coast. Our mission is to build a thriving, healthy community by nurturing and empowering people, celebrating diversity and providing family services for the Redwood Coast. Who we are: Action Network is a collaboration of individuals, organizations, schools, businesses, and faith-based organizations to help identify issues that affect the well-being of coastal communities and take action to improve health and quality of life. Objectives: 1. Increase and improve health and human services in the area; 2. Exchange ideas, information, and provide support for children, youth, and families.

The Project
Action Network is passing out masks and educational materials at their bi-weekly clothing drives, weekly food and diaper drives. At these giveaways there is a bilingual family advocate to speak with families about COVID-19 precautions.  This has been a good way to get information out to families as well as check in with their well-being. The Mask Awareness Project has helped facilitate the grassroots piece of communication that is so crucial for isolated communities like the South Coast.
